The mission of the Library Media Center @ SHMS is to provide a central learning commons where students, teachers, and community members collaborate and learn by accessing and evaluating high quality print and digital resources.

The LMC@SHMS will remain open during the hours of After School Academies when they are in session.

Our Objectives 

  1. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center fosters and encourages a community of collaboration by seeking opportunities to integrate technology, research, and inquiry in the classroom.
  2. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center fosters and encourages learning by providing an inviting and flexible space where all users feel comfortable and ready to learn.
  3. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center provides access to high quality academic and entertainment resources for our students, teachers, administrators, and families.
  4. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center provides instructional opportunities to allow students to develop and teachers and administrators to refine the skills, dispositions, responsibilities, and self-assessment strategies of independent and successful information users (American Association of School Librarians, 2007).
  5. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center will participate in strategic planning to ensure that students have access to the best information now and in the future.
  6. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center promotes the ethical use of information by students, teachers, and administrators.
  7. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center strives to be a space where curiosity and experimentation are encouraged and satisfied by providing a collection of both depth and breadth in digital and print formats.
  8. The Snow Hill Middle School Library Media Center will support families by providing workshops and 24-7 access to digital resources.
