Student Government Association (SGA)

Student Government Association, or S.G.A.

The S.G.A. at Snow Hill Middle School is designed to express the opinions of the students of S.H.M.S. Representatives voice the concerns and ideas of the student body at each meeting.  Each year, S.G.A. engages in several service activities for the school. Some examples of projects that have been completed in the past are: the canned food drive for the Maryland Food Bank, March of Dimes fundraisers and walk in Ocean City, Pennies for Patients, fundraising for relief efforts (Hurricane Katrina & the Tsunami in Indonesia), just to name a few.

Each homeroom class has a representative in S.G.A., as well as several members-at-large. The executive council of S.G.A. consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Campaigning and elections take place for each position in the fall. Executive and general assembly meetings take place once per month.

 The S.G.A. of S.H.M.S. is also affiliated with the Southern Eastern Shore Association of Student Councils, or S.E.S.A.S.C. The S.G.A. at S.H.M.S. is also affiliated with the Maryland Association of Student Councils, or M.A.S.C. Representatives attend quarterly regional S.E.S.A.S.C. meetings located at various affiliated high schools. At each meeting, students engage in leadership and character activities.
