Kara has her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Towson University. She also earned as Master's Degree from Towson University as a Reading Specialist and is certified in Special Education. Ms. Kitchen moved to Worcester County from Calvert County, MD this past summer. She loves cheering for the Redskins, Orioles and Nationals. She also enjoys spending time with her family at Assateague and on the boardwalk.
6th Grade Math
Mrs. Anderson graduated with an Elementary Education degree from Towson
University in 2004. She taught her first six years in Baltimore before moving
back home to the shore. She enjoys spending time relaxing with her husband and
two beagles. Mrs. Anderson is also eagerly awaiting another Ravens Super Bowl
6th Grade Science
Angel has her Master's Degree in Special Education from the University
of Bloomsburg, PA and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Penn
State University, PA. She began teaching at SHMS in 1997. She and Mr. Hunter
love to take their daughter Allison on exciting summer vacations. When they
aren't vacationing, they enjoy spending time on the boat or at the beach. Summer
is definitely her favorite time of year:)
6th Grade ELA
Mrs. Schafer attended Salisbury University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Education. She’s also holds a degree in Middle School English instruction and has taught at Snow Hill Middle School for her entire career. When not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time outdoors either exercising or playing tennis, traveling with her husband, participating in family time with her two grown daughters, and being a member of two book clubs.

Mrs. Shumate graduated from Salisbury University in 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and earned a Master’s Degree in 2000. She is a former student of Snow Hill Middle School and is happy to be teaching in her alma mater.

Shelly has her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education from Salisbury University. She began teaching at Pocomoke Middle School in 1994 and moved to Snow Hill Middle School in 2001. Outside of school, she spends her time trying to keep up with her children, Ben and Zoe, who were both SHMS students.
